One glance out the window, it may be hard to believe that spring is officially two weeks away and fall is around a long bend. The temperature is still below freezing, the snow keeps falling and the thought of wool blends and cashmere don’t seem so far fetched. Wear in the World L’oreal Fashion Week, produced by the Fashion Design Council of Canada, kicks off on March 17th and runs until the 22nd. Looking forward to fall 2008, the week long affair is a showcase of both Canada’s creative minds and fresh new model faces. Nathan Phillip Square plays venue host for a second time, following the success of Fashion Week in fall 2007. The large white canopy will likely house a number of art collections, photography galleries, refreshment stands and may even feature the Fashion Television set once again.
Day one of the show sees the debut of Project Runway Canada’s winner Evan Biddell, as well as Max Chernitsov presented by Russian Fashion Week. Day three, March 19th, sees Fashion Television icon Jeanne Beker present the fall collection for Diesel Kids. An exclusive event at CiRCA nightclub is also taking place that evening—the “by invite only” show by Greta Constantine is sure to bring out the city’s luckiest fashionistas.Fashion Week favourites RUDSAK and Nadia Yosef return with their fall collections on night four of the show, separated by GSUS.
C-Lounge’s fire and ice patio will be well visited throughout the week as they play host to both opening and closing after parties. Peter Gatien’s visual splendor, CiRCA, also plays host to a few special events over the week. Because it may be hard to imagine what we’ll be wearing six months from now, let the designers do the hard work for you.
